Mechanism of action of ANEXXX (SILDENAFIL)
As erection ensues under appropriate conditions, relaxation of the smooth-muscle
cell takes places via release of nitric oxide (NO) from both the nerves & the endothelium
This then allows for vasorelaxation of the smooth-muscle cell via a series of enzymatic reactions using cGMP as the secondary messenger. Sildenafil, competitively inhibits the PDE enzyme. This allows the cGMP longer, & thus the erection remains viable for a longer period of time.
